In Meta-Magick: The Book of Atem, Philip H. Farber combines traditional ritual sensibilities with contemporary concepts of neurolinguistics and memetics to create a unique entity - Atem. In this instance, the essence of an entity is encoded in a book and activated by the reader. At the same time, the book is a comprehensive manual of evocation, containing dozens of easy-to-follow rituals and exercises for exploring and creating magical entities of every sort. Farber teaches readers to wake up from their habitual trance, to reprogram themselves to stand in the Mystery without unnecessary mystification. This supercharged fusion of tried-and-true magical and psychological techniques moves beyond trauma, healing, and recovery into self-fulfillment and self-transformation. Combining both disciplines with methods such as intentionality, autohypnosis, visualization, personification, and experiential journeys, Farber creates a powerful system that opens the way to peak experiences, self-knowledge, even cosmic consciousness. Rather than importing standardized healing images, readers learn to create their own emergent metaphors, their own creative strengths and flexible freedom.

A journey of discovery of the universe and of the self. The Book Of Eternity is a philosophy which is spiritual yet not religious; concise rather than verbose; and resonates with a part of us which is just beginning to awaken. A book not only to be read, but to be experienced; and once experienced, never to be forgotten.

“When Tsze sat himself down upon a big rock, he said to the Earth: ‘Why is it that you are always so hard to manage?’ And the Earth said to Tsze: ‘Because the Great One created me so that you might learn your lessons.’” Confucius is the Latin name of the great Chinese philosopher Chung-Fu-Tsze. As the Chinese empire was crumbling, Confucius used his erudition and great wisdom to establish order amidst the political and social chaos. He believed in the integrity of law and tradition, and that inner knowledge had to be activated so that virtue, order, and harmony could be suffused into society. For centuries his philosophy has been the foundation of Chinese society. His wisdom is reflected in this series of channelled quotes that capture the humour, profundity, and exquisite simplicity of existence. “The greatest lessons are learned in the stillness of one’s own self.”

The first Sudanese civil war destroyed relations between my father and his father. The second civil war displaced, made me a refugee, and forced me to leave my country. Even though war robbed me of my childhood and forced the responsibilities of an adult upon me, I refused to let the past negative experiences determine my fate. In addition to the woes of the Sudans civil wars on my family, my story includes my spiritual, political, and economic journey. It is a journey from Atemyath to Jesus Christ, from the worlds newest country to a nation that is one hundred and fifty years old. The anguish consequences of Sudans wars and my religious conversion are nothing compared with the failed institutional systems in the Republic of South Sudan, which are, corruption, nepotism, tribal based polices and especially the civil war that crippled the new nation. With these, one is left with nothing but to challenge fail status quo under SPLM leadership whether in the government or opposition. The SPLMs Entitlement Syndrome within SPLM leadership, both in the government and in opposition has shattered hopes and dreams of South Sudanese since 2013.

In this “powerful and frightening” British thriller, two estranged sisters confront a crime that exposes the nightmares that lurk at the edges of domesticity (Irish Independent). On a picture-perfect morning in Bath, England, a teenage girl’s body is found on the towpath of a canal. Police detective Zoe Benedict is convinced the department head should look beyond the usual domestic motives to solve the brutal murder case. But no one wants to hear any far-fetched ideas from the department’s black sheep. Meanwhile, Zoe’s sister, Sally, has started working as a housekeeper for a wealthy entrepreneur whose eccentricities are beginning to seem increasingly repugnant, and possibly dangerous. As Zoe digs into the case and Sally’s suspicions grow, all signs point to one conclusion: There’s something very wrong at the house on Hanging Hill. “A chiller to the very end. Hayder deals with Britain at its grittiest.” —Peter Millar, The Times (London) “Mo Hayder has crafted a powerful and frightening thriller that grips the reader from page one to the blood-freezing shock of the final page. Utterly compelling.” —Irish Independent “[A] superbly plotted tale [with] an end more alarming than anything that comes before.” —New York Daily News

My Lost Childhood is a memoir describing immeasurable suffering the author went through in his early childhood. In the late 1980s, the Islamic government began to systematically torture and kill Southern Sudanese families, burn their villages, and enslave young boys and girls. As a result, an approximately, as numbers are largely unknown and only an estimate, 27,000 plus boys from Southern tribes were forced to flee from their homes. Traveling naked and barefoot, they sought refuge in neighboring Fugnido, Ethiopia, where a few years later they were forced to flee yet another civil war. Returning to Sudan, the Islamic government forced them to travel for another five months, ultimately arriving in Kakuma, Kenya, after four years of unthinkable hardship and walking over thousands of miles naked, barefoot, and ailing from starvation, dehydration, and diseases. Many boys perished along the way and their numbers shrank into few thousands. Abraham Deng Ater, separated from his family in 1987, is one of approximately 3,800 boys now known as the Lost Boys of Sudan. He left Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya after several years of massive suffering and was granted refuge in the U.S. in 2001. Many Lost Boys including Abraham have since become U.S. citizens and have continued to pursue their education. Thousands more have also been granted refuge elsewhere and are scattered around the globe.
